About COSME

COSME is a subcommittee of the Spanish Economic Association that is in charge of evaluating and promoting the situation of women in the Economics profession. It was founded in 2006 as the Spanish analog to Women in Economics (WinE) of the European Economic Association, The Committee on the Status of Women in the Economics Profession (CSWEP) of the American Economic Association, or The Committee for Women in Economics (CWE) of the Royal Economic Society. Simposio de la Asociación Española de Economía (SAEe)

Since 2019, COSME organizes an Invited Session at the Simposio de la Asociación Española de Economía (SAEe), inviting internationally reputed researchers in the field of Gender Economics or related fields. Moreover, it promotes contributed sessions (COSME sessions) on topics related to Gender Economics, and organizes a free nursery service to participants. Between 2008 and 2018, COSME organized one of the Plenary Lectures at the Simposio.  [read more]

COSME Gender Economics Workshop

Since 2010, COSME organizes the COSME Gender Economics Workshop, an international workshop in which researchers with interests in Gender Economics present and discuss their research. The workshop takes place every year by the end of May in Madrid. In the last few years, the venue has been at the Fundación Ramón Areces. [read more]

COSME Newsletter

Once a year, the committee edits the COSME Newsletter, which includes a letter from the president, the composition of the executive board of COSME, a compilation of articles and news related to COSME and Gender Economics, a report on the situation of women in Spain, an invited article, and an interview with the speaker of the COSME Plenary Lecture at SAEe.
